compare和contrast的区别

含义不同、用法不同、侧重点不同。当作及物动词时,这两个词都有比较两个类似事物的意思。但 compare 只是单纯的比较,既可看两个事物之间的相同点,又可看两个事物的不同点。

contrast用法

1、contrast用作不及物动词时，接介词with，表示“与…形成对照”，主语一般是物。

2、contrast也可用作及物动词，常用于“contrast sth with sth
”结构，意为“使…与…相对照”，主语一般为人，动词宾语与介词宾语表示相对照的物或事物。

3、contrast后面常接to，偶尔也接with，表示“对比或相反的东西”。如：

Black is a contrast to (with) white. 黑与白是对立的。
